Today I’d like to share my review of a brand new Smashbox’s launch – Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer. This is a very exciting launch as it gives us an opportunity to play with our make-up and double the lipstick collection in one go. As always happens with an innovative product, I have some pros and cons to share with you!
So what is Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer?
Smashbox Insta-Matte Transformer is a mattifying gel product that claims to make your lipstick look less shiny by using it. It promises to mattify your lipstick without powdery or chalky feel. It comes in a 10ml tube, in a classic Smashbox’s black packaging with an inbuilt applicator. The packaging looks professional and very pleasant to touch.
Many of you might have heard about some hacks to make your lipstick appear less shiny! Have you heard about using powder over your lipstick, using a tissue to get rid of an excess lipstick? While these methods work, they are old-days-hacks and I believe it’s time to move on.
What do I like/dislike about Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer?
An Insta-Matte Lipstick transformer works – turns your favourite lipstick into a matte finish, but there are some things to consider. Smashbox claims that this formula is comfortable to wear through the day. I would agree with it – it’s comfortable and soft, doesn’t dry out my lips. But you won’t be able to wear it during all day without applying it and lipstick your too. You will have to re-touch your lip’s make-up because I found that this formula softens my lipstick and it becomes more buttery. This way it may transform to your teeth and chin. It’s very easy to get messy with it, unfortunately!
To sum up, I would say that this product is a good option when you want to have matte finish options for your top lipsticks, but don’t want to spend money on many more products or can’t find a perfect shade match. I’d suggest make-up artists to looking closer into Insta-Matte transformer as it can be a good way to save on a make-up set, extend the collection and play with looks during photo shoots. Note: don’t use it with lip glosses, lacquers, or balms!
An Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer, £18 is available from smashbox.co.uk, Nordstrom and Smashbox counters nationwide.
