Before you say it I know you are all thinking why Yuliya is going to show me how to style a cardigan. But before you think this girl is mad you would be surprised just how many people wear cardigans wrong or are unable to match them at all. A lot of people would think of their mum or gran wearing a cardigan, not a twenty-something fashionista, right?
How do I style a cardigan?
Everyone can wear cardigans and be stylish. The more important is the way you style a cardigan. Whether that be picking one with bold design or print; short or long; fitted or elongated – all of these can contribute towards a winning outfit or a failure. So where do we start? I always pick the style of a cardigan I want to style. For this look, I went for this Moschino black cardigan with cute berry embellishment design. I loved the design from the moment I saw it, it reminded me of being a child and I just had to buy it.
I didn’t want to look like a little girl wearing it, but wanted to create a girly outfit. I feel that this has been achieved my matching fun and cute pieces with elegant and sophisticated clothing. I’ve complimented a cardigan with a red crop top. The colours really work well together, red brings out the strawberries. I wanted to add some glitz and glamour to this outfit, so I chose to wear this green and gold accordion skirt from Topshop. I didn’t want to wear tights with this outfit but chose to wear gold glittery socks with my Dorothy Perkins gold sparkly sandals. To finish off the look I added this brilliant vibrant red clutch from Dorothy Perkins. The bag brings out the red in the top tying the entire outfit together.
What else could I style a cardigan with?
I would change out the skirt and heels by adding a pair of black denim jeans to make this outfit more relaxed and casual. Why not try these black jeans from Gap and a pair of Converse trainers.
