Manifest Happiness

Multiple studies have linked city life to a higher occurrence of mental health issues, from anxiety disorders to aggression. Stress is crucial for the health and can destroy you quickly. Therefore, it is essential to find a balance and set apart some time for your favourite activities. Think about what truly brings you joy. How can you release stress? Do you have any hobbies? What makes you unwind? These are the very things we tend to cross off our schedules for a lack of time. And then we wonder why life isn’t fun anymore.

If you want to enjoy your life more=become healthier, create the happiness you want by spending time on the things that matter to you. Even if they don’t interact any physical activities, your emotional well-being will influence your energy and desire to maintain personal health goals. Not to mention, happier people are healthier. Life is too short to stress about it. Try to do 1 thing that you love weekly and see yourself becoming healthier.

Do-a-Regular-Health-Check

Do a Regular Health Check

One of my new year’s resolutions is to become healthier and lose weight as a result. Therefore, I have decided to undergo a Wellwoman health screening to start my journey with a clean sheet this time. I figured it’s important to understand if I am overall healthy and if there is any dysfunction in my body that stops me from getting into the shape.

The Wellwoman examinations at Walk-In Clinic are head to toe preventative health screenings that help you catch early signs of degenerative illness, risk factors such as high cholesterol and review your lifestyle and health requirements. I don’t know about you, but I am not a big fan of spending time at doctors. Most of the times I feel uncomfortable when I need to tell somebody about my not-so-healthy habits.

The doctor at the clinic was very understanding. She helped me to realise why a lack of sleep and exercise, as well as too many working hours, are harmful to me. She also pointed that I am actually not eating enough, which was a huge surprise for myself. This inspired me to make some healthy changes to the lifestyle and share thoughts with you. On the other hand, the fact that the clinic looks like a fancy SPA also makes me want to return there in a couple of years time, haha.

Overall, the health check like this is only going to take up to two hours every 3 years to get the test done. For me, it’s a great investment of time to understand if I need to make some lifestyle or diet changes or visit a particular specialist. I believe, taking extra care of yourself will only help to prevent a risk of developing an illness and improve a quality of your life in general. Moreover, the fact that this clinic looks like a beautiful SPA makes me want to come back there in the future. 🙂

Stop-Putting-Toxins-into-Your-Body

Stop Putting Toxins into Your Body

With the countless amount of pollution we are already exposed to in our environment, it doesn’t help to add more addictive sweets and harmful toxins to our bodies. This includes junk food, alcohol, abusive drugs and cigarettes. Of course, a person can exercise every day and eat healthy. But if they consume toxins, it defeats the purpose of their healthy lifestyle.

Make sure to develop a healthy diet and make a better choice every day. If you struggle to resist sugars or and other toxins, try a 10 count method. Before consuming the guilty pleasure, slowly count to ten and then ask yourself if you still want it. If so, then try to see if there is a healthier alternative to substitute what you are about to eat/drink/smoke. Make a bit of effort every day and you will improve in a long-run.

I recommend watching Hungry for Change, 2012 to get an idea about the shocking secrets that the diet, weight loss and food industries don’t want you to know about deceptive strategies designed to keep you coming back for more. Find out what’s keeping you from having the body and health you deserve in this movie.

Get-Enough-Sleep

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. We all know the value of sleeping well. Everyone experienced the feeling of being energisied and refreshed after a good night’s sleep. On the other hand, the feeling of fatigue after a poor night’s sleep is overwhelming. But even though we are aware of this, many of us are not getting the quality sleep needed to truly receive the health benefits of sleep.

Try to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. This helps set your body’s internal clock and optimise the quality of your sleep. Choose to go to sleep when you normally feel tired, so that you don’t toss and turn. As a rule, if you’re getting enough sleep, you should wake up naturally without an alarm. If you noticed that you need an alarm clock to wake up, you might want to try to go to sleep earlier.

The best time for women to go to sleep is a 10 pm. Late night sleep has been linked to many medical problems including obesity, hypertension, premature ageing, poor memory in the long run. In addition, some studies have shown that 1 hr before midnight equals to 2 hrs after it in terms of deep sleep. So, it’s best to go to bed by 9-10 pm and have a sound sleep of 6-9 hrs.

Learn-to-Love-Healthy-Changes

Learn to Love Healthy Changes!

We all have goals, whether it’s exercising more or improving our diet. The important thing is figuring out why we want these things and stick to the plan. It’s also critical to love and appreciate the healthy changes in your life. If you’re doing it because you should, not because you want to, the chances of success aren’t that great.

“When you focus on just a couple of small changes at a time, you begin to ingrain some healthy habits that last for a lifetime, rather than trying an all-or-nothing approach that more often than not fails because it’s too hard to follow,” says Lesley Lutes, PhD, an assistant professor in the department of psychology at East Carolina University.

So don’t rush. Adapt new healthy habits slowly into your lifestyle. Try to listen to your body more to see if it is grateful and paying off for your effort. Once a couple of changes are set, move onto other ones. You will not notice how the time goes past and you become healthier, happier and finally content.
