5 beauty hacks every girl should know

5 beauty hacks every girl should know

Today I’m going to be sharing with you 5 beauty hacks that I use to perfect my makeup. Many of you know that I’m very passionate about makeup. My mum sent me to my first makeup class at the age of 13, because I was taking all of her makeup. I’m sure she wanted to maintain her makeup products in a good condition, so she decided it would be best if somebody taught me how to use makeup. Successfully passed my first makeup exam I realised that I have a lot of knowledge about make-up techniques and all about brushes and tools. While make-up lessons are very fascinating, but they don’t really teach you tricks for real life (not editorial makeup or full glam!). I was aware that in real life women don’t have an hour (or two) in a day to do the flawless makeup. This is when I decided to find out how to spend less time, but still look stunning.

Fuller lashes for soft look

Who doesn’t want to have longer fuller lashes? Of course, today there are several options to improve your eyelashes such as extensions, lash serum to make them grow longer and false lashes. But what if you don’t want to waste your time and money? I have a solution for you.

There are a couple of options to make your lashes thicker:

– Apply the first layer of your mascara on one eye. Take a spoolie brush, dip it into dark brown eyeshadows and apply to your lashes. This will give you this doll looking lashes. I prefer this method as it makes lashes look softer and more flattering. And you can do it every day!

– This is probably one of the beauty hacks that everyone knows. Apply your mascara. Then, using a spoolie brush, apply you dark brown eyeshadow like in the previous method. And cover your lashes with mascara again. This will give you thicker more glamorous looking eyelashes. Perfect for a night out!

– Use a lash primer. There are many options of mascara primers on the beauty market nowadays. No matter what brand you are going for, I would recommend investing in a dark brown primer. Yes! I know, many of the primers come in white colour, but they look a bit strange when not covered properly. So the brown version is safer. Plus you can wear it on its own for a light everyday makeup.

Perfect eyeliner for hooded eyes

There are a lot of Youtubers, who use tape to create a clean edge of the eyeliner. I’m sure you already know this hack. So I want to share with you a hack that I use myself to create a perfect eyeliner for hooded eyes. Since I’ve gained a little bit of weight (or maybe it’s the first sign of ageing) my eye shape became a bit hooded.

First of all, you need to line your lash line on top. Don’t line your lower lash line, because it will make your eyes even smaller. Now put something straight in the outer corner of your eyes. I use a ruler or a business card. See the image to find the correct direction for the eyeliner. Now create a triangle like you always do and finish up the eyeliner. Easy!

Bigger lips without surgery

This beauty tip is one of my favourites. It’s one of the easiest things when I think about it. But at the same time, I don’t think many girls actually know about it. So to make your lips appear bigger and fuller you need to contour them.

To contour your lips you will need a highlighter and bronzer or contouring powder. Apply bronzer as shown with black arrows on the image. Apply highlighter as seen on the photograph (light pink colour).

Glowing skin

Oh, this is my favourite! So there are two options to make your skin look illuminated and healthy looking. Both are very easy but need 15 seconds of your time. Not bad, right?

Glowing skin

– Mix a drop of illuminating primer with your foundation for a glowing skin.

– Apply a thin layer of liquid bronzer or highlighter first. And then, apply your favourite foundation as per usual.

These two methods will help you to achieve a fresher looking skin and same result. But I find that, if I apply highlighter and then, foundation, my makeup lasts longer. I don’t know why it happens, but if I mix highlighter with foundation, my skin gets oily quicker. So probably the first method would be great for girls with dry skin and second for girls with combination to oily skin!

Natural lips makeup

I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have time or option to re-apply my lipstick during the day perfectly. Meaning that sometimes I forget a mirror, I’m in the crowded underground or simply can’t be bothered. That’s why I apply my lipstick in the morning in a very natural way, so it lasts longer and looks more natural when wears off.

Apply a tiny bit of lipstick with a finger and blend it on your lips. I recommend using pink, berry or red lipstick. But obviously feel free to get creative! Rather spending time doing a full lips makeup with liner and lipstick, use your favourite lipstick almost like a tint. It works as a stain and lasts longer during the day. So you won’t need to re-apply to often!

I always love beauty hacks! Love the mascara one. My lashes are short and straight, so I’ll try anything to get them looking longer and more voluminous!

Great tips! I love mixing illuminating primer with foundation. I definitely want to try contouring my lips, I’ve never done that before but I really like how it looks in the photograph!

I’ve heard of putting baby powder on lashes to make them thicker. But eyeshadow seems better because it isn’t white. I already use the lipstick trick because I too cannot be bothered to reapply. Too much of a hassle. I also love your trick for getting glowy skin. I wonder why putting it on separately would last longer than mixed together. Thanks for sharing!
