What to Wear to a Theatre?

what to wear to a theatre

Today on how to style I am going to be showing you what to wear to a theatre. Going to the theatre can often be seen as an old-fashioned activity. But, I love to go to the theatre and I believe that more people should experience what it’s like to see live performances. You don’t have to see this outfit as a theatre outfit only. This look will suit any live performance, pop concert, musical or comedy show.

What to wear to a theatre?

Firstly, a night at the theatre can be a glamorous affair. Think 1940’s glamour! The theatre really took off during WW2 as a form of escapism for what people were living through with the war. I wanted to create a look that captured the essence of 1940’s glamour that would fit within today’s fashion trends. Still, to these days the theatre is a form of escapism in today’s society. It’s a way to enjoy some time without thinking about problems!

For an occasion such as going to the theatre, you need to think elegant and sophisticated. For this look, I chose to wear a stunning red dress by Dorothy Perkins. This dress has a beautiful pleated detail on the front and a belt that ties into a bow. As you all know red is one of my favourite colours and this dress is a stand out number!

Going to the theatre is often an evening occasion and can get a little cool during the windy nights, so a jacket will be required. I wanted to add a hint of sparkle to this look. I decided to incorporate the sparkle into the jacket. The jacket in the image is a vintage black sequin jacket I brought from a charity shop last year. I absolutely love how this jacket is vintage and glamorous, but at the same time has a bomber silhouette, which is so trendy now!

Not to overload this outfit chose to go with nude sandals. I just adore these heels as they are super comfy and extremely stylish. A nude heel is a must have an item in any woman’s wardrobe!

To finish off this glamorous look I decided to keep my bag simple so I went for this wallet by Furla. I just adore Furla bags/wallets. They have some great designs and the prices are really quite reasonable for the quality to receive with one of their products. I highly recommend you to check Furla handbag range.

Red dress or what else could I wear to a theatre?

If you are looking for an outfit that is I little less glitzy why not try a pair of black jeans like these from Dorothy Perkins, with a beautiful lace blouse. Blouses often suggest a hint of romance and sophistication, perfect for a night at the theatre. Keep the nude heels and a small purse and you have a second flawless look to go to the theatre.

I love Dorothy Perkins since forever and have quite a selection of their clothes. The brand is very popular in Malaysia too but I have yet to see it in stores here in Canada but I’m also living in a small town where shopping is usually done online. LOL! You look amazing in the red dress, thanks for all the tips.
