Do What Makes You Happy!

fashion blogger yuliya oleynykova

How often do you do what makes you happy? Recently, I’ve started to realise even more how important it is to live your life in a way that you want and prefer. Not somebody else does or tells you to do! Living in a hectic World like we do nowadays sometimes makes us forget about little things that make us happy. I believe it’s the biggest mistake people do today. Everyone is busy with their life, career, hobbies… I feel like sometimes we lose the real reason why we are here and just turn into robots.

Whilst it’s important to develop a career and have a steady income, especially if you live in a busy and competitive city like London, I feel like it’s essential to remember that career or income are not going to fulfil you in the end of the day. Careers are not going to hug you when you feel down or not going to celebrate a success with you. Since I moved to London, I’ve noticed that people here don’t have time for friends and relationships. They tend to live a home-work-home lifestyle and constantly hiding in their shells.

I’ve realised that this has happened to me during the last year. I was so obsessed with developing my blog and improving it, that I forgot to live my real life. Since I’ve broken up with my boyfriend, I understood that I’m on my own. Even though I constantly go out to new beauty launches events, press days and fashion shows, in the end of the day it’s just me and my camera. My whole World turns around my career at the moment and I want to change it. I want to have more things in my life that get me excited.

Therefore I’ve decided to create a little list of things that normally make me feel better and start doing them.

1. Play with my cat Mimi.

2. Dating.

3. Going to a sauna and having the message.

4. Photography.

5. Drawing.

6. Listening to the music and drinking tea.

7. Going to the parks.

8. Trying new things and listen to me. Try to see if I like them.

9. Reading books.

10. Re-watching favourite movies.

11. Swimming.

12. Travelling.

13. Wearing summer dresses.

14. Trying new food.

15. Dancing.

I believe, expanding your interests will help you to avoid getting stressed and will make your life brighter! I’ve noticed that it’s very easy to start avoiding life when you have too much work and not so much energy. I think, we only have one life and it’s in our hands to make it awesome and has an amazing time!

Lovely reflection, and lovely with making a list of what makes one happy! Especially the fashion industry seems to leave little room left for yourself and interests that don’t include makeup, clothes, events, planning etc! Thank you for the reminder! Xx

What a lovely post. I also live in London and can see how people solely focus on their careers and don’t have time for others and no longer do things they enjoy.

Having a list of things that make you happy sounds like a great idea. I love your dress

I love this post. It wasn’t until 2 years ago when I realized I has to do what made ME happy. My favorite things to do is listening to music and pamper my dogs. This outfit is just lovely, I am in love with your jacket and the dress is stunning!

First of all that bag is so stunning! Secondly, what an amazing self-realization you came to, knowing you needed more of a balance in your life. I think a lot of us bloggers struggle with that. Thanks for sharing!

I agree – career for some people is more important than family, friends, however I must say that I was at the point of my life, when my friends turned away, they have their hobbies, find new lovers and me – was left alone, so I decided to do what makes me happy, cos I worked a lot, decided to take a break, and spent more time alone, I don’t know maybe I’m too old or finally I know what I want… and decided to live how I want to.
Anyway – I like your look, the dress is super cute, but the blazer is great 🙂
